In opening The Roost, we have reviewed our protocols and policies across the board to protect our guests and staff. These are based on the most up-to-date government and industry guidance, and will be reviewed continuously. 

Managing Visitor Numbers

We're lucky that The Roost is on a large property with ample outside space, but we are carefully managing winery visits to reduce risk in high-traffic areas of the tasting room:

  • All visits to taste or drink wine on site will be by reservation only
  • Our maximum reservation size will be 6 people
  • We have based our reservation capacity on the socially distanced seating capactiy of our tasting room - this ensures we can operate with appropriate distancing, whatever the weather
  • Concierge service on peak days to manage reservation arrivals
  • Additional signage to increase awareness of our reservation policy
  • Order pick-up and online delivery options remain available for bottle sales
  • We ask that no guest comes to the property if they believe they may have been exposed to Covid-19 or are showing any symptoms
  • Clearly posted reminders of Covid-19 social distancing policies on entry doors and screening poster


  • Service will be outside, weather permitting
  • Menus have all been laminated to allow for easy sanitation
  • Staff will socially distance from your seating area while conversing, and wear face masks at all times
  • Disposable opaque paper cups will be used in place of spittoons (these are biodegradeable)
  • Food service has been reduced. We will offer an individual cheese plate that can be eaten by hand, eliminating contamination through cutlery and minimizing risk in preparation
  • There will be no tasting service at the Roost bar. All service will be at your table


  • Bottle shop sales will be outside where possible, and our inside point of sale will have a plexiglass screen
  • Our contactless payment limit has been increased to $250
  • We will operate cashless - all payments are by credit or debit card
  • Receipts will be sent by email where possible

Public Areas​

  • Face coverings are required inside the winery. They can only be removed when seated at your table. 
  • A one-way system will be put in place in and out of the tasting room
  • Hand sanitizer stations will be located outside washrooms, at the main entrance, and at the point of sale
  • Increased garbage recepticals inside and outside
  • Seating has been rearranged or removed to promote physical distancing
  • Tables and chairs will be sanitized between reservations
  • We are implementing a sanitation schedule for high-touch areas and all washrooms


  • A full Covid Policy has been implemented for staff
  • Staff fill out sceening questionnaires at the start of every shift. Any staff member that has any reason to believe they have been exposed to Covid-19 or are showing any symptoms will be required to stay home
  • Staff have received additional training on sanitation and pandemic precautions inline with government guidelines
